Learn How to Knit | 1st & 2nd Tuesday of every month | 12pm - 2pm
Or by Appointment

The class moves at a slow pace to ensure the mastering of each skill to provide a strong foundation in which to build your knitting experience and enable you to feel comfortable and confident to create beautiful knitted projects in the years to come!

Knitting is based on five skills, all of which will be covered in this two session class. This class will teach you the basic foundations of knitting: casting on, binding off, knitting and purling. In addition, choosing yarn for a project, the standard yarn weight measure and importance of checking gauge will all be covered.
Session One will cover the standard yarn weight measure chart and major differences in fiber. Casting on in both the e cast and long tail methods as well as knitting will be accomplished.
Session Two will teach purling and binding off. In addition, an overview of common mistakes, how to recognize and repair them will be covered.

Depending on the speed with which you master knitting, a potential first project can be discussed and assistance with choice of fiber and review of pattern to ensure a comfort level with the pattern will be offered from the instructor.

After these two sessions you will be able to knit a scarf solo and be on your way to a wonderful knitting adventure!

Learn How to Knit for Kids | Two 1-hour sessions | By Appointment

The basic goal in this class will be to teach your child to become comfortable with needles and be able to knit a straight row. This class is a prerequisite for the regular Children series if your child does not know how to knit a row. Depending on your child's speed of learning, casting on and binding off will be introduced as well. As the children series will always require knowledge of knitting, this class will serve as the foundation for each child to get knitting and get comfortable - but more importantly excited! The additional knitting foundations will present themselves during the monthly Children Series projects and will be given dedicated time during those classes.
